Kazuki Takamatsu

I am trying not to spend too much time on the web, but keep failing :)

Browsing remind me brainstorming process, with totally unexpected results through the series of links-thoughts...

Today the final destination is amazing work by Kazuki Takamatsu - to me another proof that medium when used correctly just refines your art and imagination. And yes, I have a soft spot for black and white as well as for Japanese aesthetic - and here is the combination of them both.

I made this cat as a commisioned piece for Erin, lovely and talented lady (you can see her work at erinaellis )

I must admit I really enjoyed making him ... My daughter Katie usually puts all felted cats into 2 categories - cuties and the characters, and this one is definetely falling into the character ones :)

I was very pleased to receive a note from Erin (Thank you!) with great photos of Russel and Russel, seem like they are becoming friends :) And the eye colour is a perfect match!

Submission for Plush It! 2008

I finally have finished my submission for this year Plush It! group show opening on 12th of November at Ruban Rat Gallery, Sydney, Australia. All artists were given the same template, designed by Serena Kuhl to interpret it.

It was an interesting exercise for me - I started with the shape, what it remind me of and the cactus pop up in my head :) I love cacti, so the rest was pure fun - especially I loved the spiked eyelashes feature :) And with the eyelashes like these it must be girl... and yes, the flower to distinguish the feminine aspects, pink preferably ... So green and pink, I'd picked up some colours...And I really wanted her to smile in a not so cute way, coz she is spiky and sharp ... and freckles to make her even more mischievous... Done!

It is amazing how differently you can interpret the same shape - you can check the show flickr pool to see variety here

My favourites so far are the fishes by Robyn Fabsits, I love her clever twist of the shape, colours and her sense of humour - main ingredient in plushies, I believe :)

Anna, the creator of the cutest felt mouse characters www.thehouseofmouse.etsy.com has launched the new blog - ForTheLoveOfCute and asked me to be the first featured artist :) Isn't she sweet? She picked up pair of ladybugs in love - well, I do agree that they are still the cutest ones from my mini range :)

Glad that Chad, the Ginger Cat is becoming famous, he is really nice guy :)
